Train to become a Camera Assistant - NOVAC
NOVAC's Louisiana Film Crew Training Program presents a free 3 week workshop.
Camera Assistant Workshop
December 1-21, 2009
NOVAC's Louisiana Film Crew Training Program is preparing to offer its first-ever Camera Assistant workshop. This workshop will provide participants training they need to work as freelance camera assistants on feature films, television series, music videos and commercials. The three-week, hands-on training session is taught by industry professionals on industry-standard equipment.
Participants will be taken through a rigorous curriculum that will cover a history and overview of film and TV production, provide a background in photography basics, and introduce 16mm and 35mm film cameras, as well as High Definition.
In addition to learning entry-level skills, participants will gain knowledge about how the Camera Department functions as a whole, as well as the role of the Camera Loader, 1st AC, 2nd AC, Camera Operator, and Director of Photography.
NOVAC has limited space available to applicants who are committed to working as freelance camera assistants. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate ability to attend the workshop in full, make a positive contribution to the workshop space, and pursue a career as a freelance camera assistant at the workshop's conclusion.
This is a 3-week workshop, 9-5 on weekdays, although one or two Saturday sessions may be required. There is no cost to attend this workshop, however NOVAC cannot provide stipends for workshop participants. Also, if you have previously participated in NOVAC's Louisiana Film Crew Training Program, your application will not be considered.
Last day to apply is November 15, 2009.
